Groot Excelsior Amsterdam

Groot Excelsior is a symphonic wind orchestra and consists of 65 musicians. The orchestra plays on a very high level and performs at Amsterdam’s best venues and churches. Groot Excelsior can also be admired outside the capital when they perform throughout the country. The repertoire includes a very broad musical range. Varying from transcriptions of the big symphonic repertoire – as for instance Sibelius’ Finlandia, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet and Symphonic Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein – to well known singalong oldies from the streets of Amsterdam. Whichever the repertoire played, high musical standards are always top priority with Groot Excelsior.
